It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
